Key Trends of Swedish IT Outsourcing of 2010 Revealed
IT Sourcing Europe, a UK-based nearshore IT sourcing research and consultancy company, announced today the completion of its Swedish IT Sourcing and Software Development Survey 2010, conducted in the frames of the All-European IT Outsourcing (ITO) Research 2010. The survey was aimed to explore the major trends, challenges and behaviors among the two types of Western European companies – those that outsource their software development to a 3d party offshore, nearshore or within Sweden and those that develop their software/web solutions within own house. The survey was completed by the 148 outsourcing companies representing all of the major verticals from IT and telecommunications to banking and insurance to travel and hospitality etc.
The survey findings allow us to observe the following trends among the Swedish software development outsourcers:
- more Swedish companies prefer to outsource nearshore and/or nearshore and within Sweden than offshore;
- the Top Three reasons why Swedish companies choose to outsource their software/web development are: to reduce operating costs; to accelerate time to market via flexibility and sustainability and difficulty finding necessary resources within home country;
- the majority of Swedish companies report saving 40%-59% of their operating costs via the outsourced development;
- most of Swedish outsourcing companies do not have 100% managerial control of their project teams and costs associated with outsourcing.
Overall, the Swedish clients challenge their ITO partners to be able to provide transparent cost structures as well as a combination of speed, cost management and growth supported by business agility and unprecedented technological innovation.
More thought-provoking findings can be found in the Swedish IT Outsourcing Intelligence Report 2010.

cooking in an apartment smoke alarms?
I just moved ito a new apartment, if the smoke alarm goes off, you got like 1 minute to flag it off with a towel than they send the fire dept.... whenever i cook ANYTHING it goes off. easy. what should i do? The apartment is inclosed too, inside hallways. a building. not a outside complex.
i have the same problem. i always keep the windows open, turn on the fan (both the bathroom and the stovetop one) and keep a small fan on the kitchen counter to circulate the air. it's a bit of a pain, but it seems to do the trick. also, try cooking things at a lower temp than usual if you can get away with it. it might take longer, but it doesn't antagonize the smoke alarm gods as much. if the problem persists, talk to your landlord and see if you guys can come up with a solution together.
